Tate Modern Weather Project

Case Study

Tate Modern Weather Project

Working with Scandinavian artist Olafur Eliasson to create an eternal sunset in the Tate Modern, we converted the entire turbine hall into a weather project.

The turbine hall was turned into a constant sunset. This project covered 4 000m2 and was made by creating & rigging a full mirrored ceiling 25m in air covering an area of 155m x 27m. The mirrors were light-weight highly reflective aluminum panels. At the end a diffuser covered construction of 200 low-sodium mono-frequency lamps provided a warm glow in conjunction with haze machines.

The result was an amazing Eternal Sunset
